Go with your gut instinct!

Chunky knits, crunchy leaves and hot chocolates by a roaring fire! I just love this time of year.

However, as we all begin to feel the temperatures plummet it’s time to take out the long johns and woolly socks.

Almost the entire country has a runny nose, a sandpaper throat, and aching limbs and there is nothing fun about feeling under the weather.

But, fear not, there are a few basic steps to take to boost your immunity and to prevent the colds from returning and being sick.

While it’s important to stock up on Vitamin C, I recommend taking 1,000mg of Vitamin C daily for adults. Modern lifestyles and increased stress can have a huge impact on our gut bacteria and this can affect our overall health. A weak immune system puts us at greater risk of nasty colds and cases of flu and surprise surprise a healthy diet is associated with a good immune.

You will notice a lot in my videos that I advise you to stay away from processed foods, sugars, and refined carbohydrates. My family hate me and hide their food when they see me but the reason I tell you to avoid why is because it adds extra stress on your immune. Processed foods feed like monsters in your tummy and will feed on unwanted bacteria and yeast in the gut encouraging multiple growths thus make you feel like you’ve been run over by a bus.

I encourage my clients always to plate high with phytonutrient-rich foods, such as fresh fruit and vegetable as there is evidence that phytonutrients have antiviral properties.

For good gut health and anyone that suffers from IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) Try drinking some probiotics also like natural yogurt.

Probiotics impress and restore the gut flora which in turn improves gut function which will make you feel naturally good. So a healthy digestive system is the key to good health and longevity. I am recently taking one Alforex tablet every morning. Alforex is an Irish made product with years of scientific research. It has been clinically tested by Scientists and Gastroenterologists. So if you are suffering in silence with bloating, constipation and gas, you are not alone. Get yourself into your nearest health store to get yourself some Alflorex.

If you are wondering what IBS is– It’s Irritable bowel syndrome which is a chronic condition of the digestive system which is characterized by recurrent irritation and inflammation of the large intestine with women more twice as likely to suffer than men.

People with IBS are more likely to suffer from stress and anxiety, although they are not the underlying causes. The symptoms may last for a day, weeks or months. Some other causes can be poor diet or people that eat a lot of processed foods and excess sugar.

Symptoms can include upset stomach, nausea, loss of appetite, constipation, headaches, fatigue, anxiety, depression, backaches, bloating and cramp-like pain in the side of the lower abdomen.

If you do suffer from IBS I would encourage you to eat wholesome nutrient-rich organic foods such as fresh fruit, nuts, seeds, oily fish, non-starchy vegetables and whole grains. I would also encourage you to eliminate caffeine, alcohol, and sugars from their diet. All of these invite inflammation of the body and interfere with normal digestion and of course invite bad bacteria into the gut.
