You are what you eat. Since my beauty therapy days I’ve become a bit of a beauty mixologist!
The Nutri-bullet machine is the secret to my skincare and of course my skincare products Zo Skincare range from the fabulous Dr. Tracey of Genesis Clinic in Waterford City “my skin wizard”. Vegetables and fruits have fantastic benefits for the skin especially when blended as nutrients are immediately absorbed by the body into the blood stream when you drink your fruit and vegetables. When I blend my fruit and vegetables and drink them I instantly become refreshed and feel revitalised knowing that all those fabulous nutrients are being pushed into my cells and turned into a magic glow while I get on with my day.
There are endless nutrients in the cell walls of fruit of vegetables especially when you blend them up and drink them plus the pigments in fruit and vegetables are very important anti-oxidants that help to fight off horrible flues, diseases and some cancers and nowadays you can buy them so organically and cheaply from Lidl.
In another life I’m certain I was a cave woman. I enjoy nice food so much its not much of an effort for me to eat clean. But when I fall off track I fall off track. I’m all or nothing. Don’t get me wrong, I’m no Saint – I eat pizza from time to time and I eat chocolate most nights but generally speaking I am very sensitive to bad food. It effects my mood and how I process information and my concentration levels. I gave up fizzy drinks completely over a year ago now. They are all bad news whether diet or regular they all have the same toxic ingredient ASPARTAME – which is an artificial sweetener which makes the body hungry and is blamed for hundreds of health problems including headaches and some cancers and bad for your complexion. I personally swopped my diet sodas for sparkling water and it worked for me. All I want to feel is the fizz hitting the back of my throat, then I’m happy.
Listed below is some of my recommendations of fruits and vegetables that you should consider blending up and drinking to bring back the youthful appearance to your skin.
Spinach – This vegetable is pretty impressive as it’s pumped with vitamins and minerals and it’s one of the beauty foods that the Kardashians drink daily – mix it with some mango and lime to add some Vitamin C, which triggers collagen in the skin – which as you know is the key to youthful skin.
Blueberries – Pure rocket fuel for an elastic tight complexion which will help your skin to resist UV damage and beauty sabotaging free radicals. Mix this with some unsweetened almond milk and a scoop of your favourite protein powder for a berry surge and pop in some strawberries for an extra boost of natural Vitamin C. Remember your body cannot store Vitamin C, so you need to get it into you every day to keep your immune system healthy. Try to get it naturally out of your fruit and vegetables, and if your not a fruit and vegetable person get it through supplements you can purchase online from Ambermed.ie (www.ambermed.ie)
Lemon – My favourite, I put it on everything! Squeeze some fresh lemon juice on all your salads and fish, it’s also delicious squeezed over chicken and it will provide you with a Vitamin C surge to strengthen your immune and provide you with a glowing complexion.
These are just some of the amazing fruits and vegetables you can blend up to help you achieve beautiful skin. Over the coming days, I will be setting up a Foodapedia guide in which I will explain the benefits of certain foods that will have you glowing and help you to understand the benefits of such a simple approach.
Have a great week – and don’t be too hard on yourself if you fell off track over this weekend! You’re only human – so dust yourself off till tomorrow, it’s a new day to a new better version of you.
